Unchained Voices is an annual art show that seeks to empower by displaying works of art and sharing the stories of incredible artists who reside in Colorado’s jails and prisons. The show is a collaborative effort created on behalf of incarcerated artists in Colorado. The Denver-based Unchained Voices committee is comprised of community members, forensic social workers, attorneys, and arts and criminal justice reform advocates

Unchained Voices’ events feature art and other works created by persons currently incarcerated at a jail or Colorado Department of Corrections facility. The proceeds from art sales are provided directly to the artist—to fulfill a need identified by the individual. These “needs” include both personal and charitable causes.

WINDOWS & MIRRORS

The 2026 Unchained Voices exhibition, Windows & Mirrors, explores how we see ourselves and how we see one another.

Mirrors reflect stories of recognition, identity, and belonging. Windows open onto lives, experiences, and worlds beyond our own.

Through this exhibition, artists are invited to explore the spaces between reflection and curiosity, identity and empathy, separation and connection. Each work may act as a mirror, a window, or both — offering moments of recognition, discovery, and shared humanity.

EXPERIENCE THE EXHIBITION

The exhibition will be on display in the Cafe area of The Space and Cafe by Arapahoe Libraries from October 2, 2026 through January 2, 2027. Visitors are welcome to view the exhibition anytime the building is open.

Artwork represented by Unchained Voices is accessibly priced and available for purchase, with proceeds going directly to the artists.
